Rose Bowl Strategic Plan:
Section 3.5 - Scoreboards
The historic scoreboards at the north and south ends of the stadium have been compromised over the years with the addition of advertising panels and asymmetrical video displays. Continuing with the theme of preservation, this plan proposes a restoration of the scoreboards to their original configuration.
The south end scoreboard will be stripped of its large scoreboard and eastern ad panel. The wing panels on either side of the scoreboard will be simplified to carry only one image at a time, which will provide a cleaner message to those inside the bowl. These wing panels could be either static or changeable.
On the north end, a new LED video display will be installed to provide better imagery, informational content, and advertising layouts. This proposal identifies two options for the placement and size of the new LED, as shown. In one option, one large LED is located in the middle of the end zone. In the second option, the north end scoreboard will be restored to its original profile, and two flanking LED boards will be installed on either side. The total surface area for LED advertising and displays is the same in these two options.
