Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation Announces Gift from Wescom Credit Union and unveils the Entry Sign to the Rose Bowl Stadium
WHEN: Thursday, September 29th, 2016, 12:30 PM – Dedication and Unveiling of New Rose Bowl Drive Sign gifted by Wescom
WHERE: Rose Bowl Stadium at the top of the extensions (Rose Bowl Drive & Seco)
1001 Rose Bowl Drive, Pasadena, CA 91103
WHAT: The creation of the sign, part of the Parkway Entrance project at the Stadium, will create an appropriate entrance experience as visitors enter the campus of the historic Rose Bowl Stadium. In recognition of the gift, the entry sign will highlight Rose Bowl Drive along with the Wescom name, as well as include appropriate aesthetic elements such as Arroyo stone features.
“Wescom is proud to be the official financial institution of the Rose Bowl Stadium,” said Wescom President and CEO Darren Williams “and our partnership with the Rose Bowl and our support of the Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation is in alignment with Wescom’s long-standing commitment to support our members and the communities in which they live and work. We are honored and excited that visitors to the Rose Bowl Stadium will be welcomed to America’s Stadium with this new, beautiful piece.”
Williams is a member of the Legacy Foundation’s Board of Directors and Wescom’s COO and EVP, Jane Wood, is also a member of the Foundation’s Advisory Committee. “The Legacy Foundation and the Stadium are very grateful for the generosity of Wescom and the continuous support from Darren and Jane on several fronts,” said the non-profit’s Executive Director, Dedan Brozino. “This transformational gift, and their continued volunteerism, will impact the experiential make-up of the Parkway entrance at this National Historic Landmark and help to continue creating the beautiful entrance experience that this icon deserves.”
The Parkway Entrance project was approved by Pasadena City Council in 2013 as an opportunity to create a well-rounded entrance experience for visitors as they approach Gate A and the historic Rose Bowl Stadium marquee. The transformation of the Parkway extension has been stunning and includes several aspects for public enjoyment, including the Rose Plaza with donor brick opportunities, environmental bioswales, and even a bench and time capsule dedicated to the 1983 Army-Navy football game, which was played at the Stadium.
“Wescom has been serving the communities of Southern California for more than 80 years and we are proud to extend our support to the Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation, and in turn the Stadium’s rich history and bright future,” said Wood.
